Change SSF is a multi-generational and multicultural grassroots organization, which aims to advocate for community empowerment through education and political action. We are a group of youth, community members, and educators deeply invested in the future of our communities in South San Francisco, CA.
Our efforts began with demanding SSF City Council to reallocate funding from the police and place those funds in programs that more effectively address mental health, substance abuse, education, housing, jobs, and childcare. Our communities are being over-policed and Black and Brown people are being killed, brutalized, and incarcerated on a regular basis.
Currently, we are working to raise awareness about systemic racial inequalities in SSF and the SSFUSD. We are particularly concerned about the presence of police in schools, the excessive use of force by SSFPD officers, the lack of affordable housing, and the need for mental health resources in the city of South San Francisco.
